JUDGING

Due to Covid19 and following government guidelines, competitions will be paused until studios re-open.

HOW WILL THE MONTHLY COMPETITIONS BE JUDGED?

Each month the entries will be collected and shared on our Facebook Page, where the public will help us find a shortlist of 5. A winner will then be selected by our judging panel.

If you're a winner we’ll email you and your photographer to let you both know.

HOW WILL THE YEARLY COMPETITION BE JUDGED?

The 60 portraits that were shortlisted across all the monthly competitions will be combined and uploaded to Facebook. The public will then vote for their favourites, to help us find a shortlist of 10.

TIP: You can then spread the word – on and offline – to try and get your portrait as many votes as possible.

Once the votes are in, the shortlist will be judged by our panel, who will decide on the overall winner and the two runners up.

WHO'S IN THE JUDGING PANEL?

Our judging panel is made of 3 internationally renowned professional photographers.

WHAT ARE THE JUDGES LOOKING FOR?

Our expert judging panel will be looking for a number of things.

As well as great photographic craft such as composition, attention to detail, colour and vibrancy, we’ll be looking at how your photographer captures the dog themselves. Pose and expression will be key, as will be the set and backdrop. We want to see an image that depicts the personality and breed of that dog perfectly.

All art forms are subjective, of course, but we expect the winning image to be of a calibre that could happily adorn the cover of a canine publication, whilst having clear commercial appeal.
